Veterinary biological products are pharmaceuticals formulated using corresponding technologies such as microbiology, immunology, molecular biology or biochemistry, and bioengineering, intended for the prevention, treatment, and diagnosis of animal diseases or for altering animal production performance. They primarily include:
Vaccines: Encompassing viral vaccines, bacterial vaccines, and parasitic vaccines. Primarily including inactivated vaccines, attenuated vaccines, subunit vaccines, and genetically engineered vaccines. Inactivated vaccines: Pathogens are inactivated through chemical or physical methods, rendering them incapable of infection while retaining their immunogenicity. It is highly safe but has a short immune duration. Attenuated vaccines: Also known as live vaccine or attenuated vaccine, it is produced by reducing the virulence of the pathogen through methods such as passage culture. It can simulate the immune response of natural infection, with a long immune period and strong efficacy, but there is a risk of virus shedding. |

Subunit vaccines: Prepared from antigenic components that require host-derived antigenicity, it contains only the effective antigenic components of the pathogen. It has high safety but high cost, and may suffer from insufficient protective efficacy due to a single antigen.
Genetically engineered vaccines: Prepared using recombinant DNA technology, such as subunit vaccines and viral vector vaccines, they precisely target antigens and exhibit high safety. These three types constitute the mainstream of current animal vaccines.
Toxinoid: A preparation produced from bacterial exotoxins that has been rendered non-toxic but retains immunogenicity after the addition of formaldehyde. It is used to prevent animal diseases caused by bacterial exotoxins.
Immunosera: A general term for antisera against toxins, bacteria, and viruses, used for the treatment or emergency prevention of animal infectious diseases. Primarily used for the treatment of animal diseases.
Diagnostic products: Primarily used to detect whether an animal is infected with a certain disease or to assess the immune status of the animal.
