Calf diarrhea remains a major challenge on dairy farms, often referred to as the "calf killer." It impacts development and can lead to rapid decline, with severe cases proving fatal within days. Prevention is key, but effective treatment protocols are critical when outbreaks occur.
Here shows three trials at three different dairy farms. In each farm, diarrhea calves over 5 days old with were selected randomly to collect feces for cryptosporidium test, then both cryptosporidium-positive calves and general diarrhea calves were treated with a combination therapy using CalfGuard (a 100% natural product) and Tylo-SD Soluble Powder, just in different doses. The medication was administered mixed into milk. Observe the symptoms of diarrhea and test for Cryptosporidium antigen after treatment completion.
The results shew that all the three farms have different infection rate of cryptosporidium, 40%, 64.7%, 40%. After the treatment, the cryptosporidium-positive calves were cured by at least 91% (100%, 91%, 100%), and the general diarrhea calves were cure by at least 88.88 (88.88%, 100%, 100%).
Key Takeaway: In situations of high Cryptosporidium prevalence and rapidly progressing diarrhea, the combination of CalfGuard and Tylo-SD proved effective and fast-acting. Diarrhea symptoms in all calves were successfully controlled within the 3-5 day treatment window, demonstrating significant efficacy against both Cryptosporidium-associated and undiagnosed general diarrhea.
